Inland, See

the scene
suspended
forget this terrain
is terrain, the lies
your father told you
the lies you told your son

see inland
under the skin of the river
the sandbar forming
water & earth confused
step back in this air
stand on the littoral
& see again

against that backdrop
which could be the sky
the sea
rushing back over
the prairie
